ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) - In addition to Arlington police, officers from Fort Worth to Dallas are lending manpower at the College Football National Championship game, which is expected to draw more than 90,000 Duck and Buckeye fans to North Texas.

Arlington police Sergeant Jeff Houston says many of the officers will be in plainclothes, looking for scalpers as well as suspicious activity.

"The biggest challenge we have for this one is that everyone is coming to the game from out-of-state for the most part," Houston explained. "We don't have a large in-town Metroplex crowd, so traffic will be big getting to the game."

The best advice on travel: try to arrive at the stadium from the south or west side - the opposite direction from where most people are driving.

"The biggest thing we can tell people for that is, turn your GPS off and don't use that because it brings everybody in the same path."

Arlington police won't divulge specifics of the security plan for safety reasons.

When asked whether the terror attack in France last week weighed in on any plans for this high-profile event, Sgt. Houston said this, "Everyone is aware of the stuff that's been going on. So officers are alert just like everybody should be. It's not just officers that should be looking for suspicious activities, but everyone."
