Hurricane Sandy: Useful Information
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - As the eastern seaboard prepares for landfall of Hurricane Sandy, many people in North Texas are making preparations to help out.
DFW Airport officials said they have begun seeing flight cancellations both into and out of DFW traveling to the major east coast hubs. DFW says to check with your airline for the latest information, and go to DFWAiport.com for the latest flight departure and arrival times.
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines has placed an alert on their website, southwest.com, with travel advisories to it's eastern cities. The airline says it is offering flexible travel accommodations to anyone flying to the impacted cities on Monday or Tuesday. The airline can also be reached by calling (800) I-FLY-SWA
Fort Worth-based American Airlines has taken similar steps for both east coast and Caribbean flights. That information can be found at AA.com or by calling the airline at (800) 433-7300.
On Monday, a crew of 60 Oncor employees will be heading out on a 22-hour drive to assist with the projected power outages in Baltimore and New York if the storm hits with the strength it is forecasted to.
The local American Red Cross has already sent relief workers to the east coast as preps are made for the storm to make landfall. As of Sunday, additional crews are in standby mode with trucks and supplies if need be.
