North Texan Pleads Guilty To Forcing Girl Into Sex Trade
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A man charged with forcing a 15-year-old girl into prostitution and advertising her services online has pleaded guilty in a North Texas sex trafficking case.
Prosecutors in Fort Worth on Thursday announced 27-year-old Deundrea R. Miller pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor. A woman he dated, 22-year-old Brittanie Brattain of Saginaw, earlier pleaded guilty to the same charge.
Both remain in custody and face maximum penalties of life in prison and a fine up to $250,000 when they're sentenced later this year.
Investigators say Miller, who's from Fort Worth, and Brattain met the victim last fall. The pair took photos of the teen in her underwear and advertised online. The girl was hired out as a prostitute for five months before she fled.
Prosecutors say Miller kept all of the money.
The prosecution is part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood initiative, formed to fight the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
