North Texan Makes Bet To Change Name To 'Tebow'
RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) - Sports will make fans do some crazy things but there are few as strange as what a Richardson man promises to do if a certain team wins the Super Bowl.
David Rezazahdah has followed Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow all season.
"I think he's the flavor of the season right now," he said.
But Rezazahdah is also one of the biggest critics of one of the NFL's rising stars. He's so confident Tebow and the Broncos won't win the Super Bowl that he made this promise Thursday morning during a phone call to 105.3 The Fan, "If Tim Tebow won the Super Bowl I would legally change my name to Tim Tebow."
The 26 year old maintains he made the name change promise as part of a bet with a friend and not as any sign of support or statement about Tebow's strong spirituality.
"My friends are laughing about it. They're like, 'Dude you're crazy'."
Some people have doubts as to whether Rezazahdah will follow through on the promise should the Broncos pull off a win, but he believes there will be someone to hold him accountable.
"I know one person who won't [let him back out] and that's my friend T.J. He'll drag me to the court office," Rezazahdah said laughing.
Whether you love him or hate him, it seems everyone has a strong opinion about Tim Tebow.
So why would anyone want to carry the moniker? "I got no integrity if I don't change it," Rezazahdah answered.
When asked why he didn't make the bet to change his name to a quarterback that he actually likes, Rezazahdah said, "What's the fun in that?"
