North Tarrant Express Construction Starts Soon
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - First it was the DFW Connector, then the LBJ managed lanes, and now work is really beginning to get underway on the North Tarrant Express project.
A private partnership is now working to transform part of Highway 183, 121, the North Loop and I-35W into a better route complete with toll lanes. North Tarrant Express spokesman Robert Hinkle says daytime work will start on the North Freeway Tuesday. At a time when the state is running out of cash to build roads, contracts to include toll lanes on already free highways is just about the only way major projects are getting done right now.

The $2.5 billion North Tarrant Express will be done by 2015. Here's the rundown of construction on the North Tarrant Express this week:
1.) The left shoulders of I-35W north and southbound between Meacham Blvd and Northern Cross Blvd will be closed.

2.) The main lanes of I-35W north and southbound from Meacham Blvd to the I-35W/IH 820 interchange will have alternating lanes closed.

3.) The frontage road of SH 183 westbound from Hurstview Dr to Precinct Line Rd will have the right shoulder closed.
Date: Wednesday March 30 to Friday April 1

4.) The right shoulder of the SH 121 eastbound on ramp at Precinct Line Rd will be closed.
Date: Wednesday March 30 to Friday April 1

5.) The frontage road of SH 121 eastbound from Precinct Line Rd to Hurstview Dr will have the right lane closed.
