Non-Profits Wanting Input On Marketing Deep Ellum
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Two non-profit groups are joining forces to come up with a new brand for the Deep Ellum neighborhood in Dallas. They're inviting people to submit their own ideas for the best way to market the neighborhood.
The Deep Ellum Community Association and the Deep Ellum Foundation will pick a winner, whose work will be featured prominently in their marketing campaigns - and will receive a $1,500 prize.
"We have a large pool of creative talent in Deep Ellum," said Cecilia Zimmerman, Marketing & Development Director for the Deep Ellum Foundation. "We wanted to open it up to everyone who has had a part of it, since there's been so much history with people's experiences in Deep Ellum".
The neighborhood has experienced some ups and downs since its popularity in the late 1980's and early 1990's, and Zimmerman says they're looking for ways to spread the word about the new businesses that call the neighborhood home. "Deep Ellum is thriving in ways you never would have seen. Commerce Street has turned into a little restaurant row," Zimmerman said. "It's really cool to see it develop a family scenario, a night-time scenario, a music and artist scenario, a business person's scenario, so everyone kind of has a little niche."
The two organizations will be accepting entries in their branding competition through Sunday, March 4. They're also holding a pair of informational meetings on Wednesday, February 1, at Mokah Coffee Bar, 2803 Taylor St. in Dallas.
