Nobody Hurt In Large Arlington House Fire
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Investigators are trying to determine what caused a large house fire in Arlington on Wednesday morning. The incident happened at about 4:00 a.m. in the 4400 block of Arbor Oaks Drive, near the intersection of Highway 360 and Green Oaks Boulevard.
When crews arrived on the scene, thick smoke and massive flames had already engulfed the entire two-story home. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze quickly, however, and are now just monitoring hotspots to ensure that flames do not flare up again. Officials are trying to determine what sparked the fire.
Seven people -- two adults and five teenagers -- were inside of the home when the fire started. Everyone was asleep except for an 18-year-old college student who was awake and playing on his computer. He smelled smoke just before hearing the fire alarm. The family grabbed what they could and everyone escaped safely.
"I ran outside," recalled Exequiel Espejo. "I see the back patio, all the wood was on fire. It was an incredible image, too many words to speak."
