No Injuries In Garland Apartment Complex Fire

GARLAND (CBS 11 NEWS) - Jordan Wilson lost most of her belongings, but she credits Garland firefighters for saving what they could from her upstairs apartment.

"Everything else is material things and can eventually be replaced. And they salvaged some of my pictures, so that's more than I could have asked for," Wilson said.

Thursday night, the apartment where Wilson lived with her husband and children caught on fire. The family got out just as flames consumed their home.

The fire quickly spread from one apartment to another, leaving more than two dozen people displaced.

"You always see it happen to other people and you feel sorry for them. But you never dream it's going to happen to you," said Julie McDrayer, apartment complex resident.

McDrayer was one of the people displaced by the blaze. She came home to find flames taking over her porch. Her disabled husband was still inside.

"Thank God we were able to get him out when we did because it escalated so fast," McDrayer said.

While residents now must to start over, they're thankful the situation wasn't worse because no one was injured in the fire.

Investigators are looking for what caused the blaze.
