No Contamination Due To Lead From Gun Range Fire
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A day after a patron fired off a prohibited tracer round inside the DFW Gun Range on Mockingbird in Dallas, the building is in shambles.
The two thousand square foot building went up in flames in less than 3 hours Sunday afternoon with about 100 people inside.
Thankfully, everyone made it out safely.
Tracer rounds are used in military style weapons and are banned at the gun range. But the four-alarm fire sparked a different type of concern.

Dallas authorities were concerned that the water used to put out the fire may have gathered lead from the gun range and washed into the storm system, causing contamination.
The city tested the Old Elm Fork of the Trinity River and say initial results show no real concerns.
People like Doug Sisler, who used the gun range and saw the smoke Sunday, have been coming by Monday trying to see if they will rebuild. "There are lots of other good gun ranges to practice at, but this one sure was convenient. I hope they get the capital together to reconstruct it."
The man who fired the round will not face any charges. Investigators consider the cause accidental, and the matter to be a civil incident between the man and the gun range.
