No. 17 Oklahoma State Tries To Stay In Thick Of Big 12 Race

WHAT'S AT STAKE

If the Cowboys can take care of business the next two weeks it would set up a showdown with rival Oklahoma for the conference title on Dec. 3. Texas Tech, hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 45-37 loss to Texas last week, needs to win two of its last three to become bowl eligible.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas Tech's potent offense, which ranks second in the entire nation with an average of 587.1 yards per game, against Oklahoma State's defense, which is 98th in the country in total defense, allowing 443.8 yards per contest.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Oklahoma State: QB Mason Rudolph. The junior is coming off another big performance in which he completed 29 of 38 passes for 457 yards and five touchdowns, along with two interceptions, in a 43-37 win over Kansas State. Rudolph ranks seventh in the nation with 2,989 yards and has thrown 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Texas Tech: QB Patrick Mahomes. The junior leads the nation with 3,886 passing yards, and back on Oct. 22, tied the NCAA record with 734 yards (along with five touchdowns) in the Red Raiders' 66-59 loss to Oklahoma. He has completed 66.8 percent of his passes, with 31 touchdowns against eight interceptions.

Oklahoma State has won each of the last seven meetings between the schools, scoring at least 45 points in each of the last five. . Texas Tech has committed just five penalties for a total of 19 yards over the last two games, fewest in the nation. . Oklahoma State is 10-1 in its last 11 games decided by 10 points or less.
