Nimitz High Classmates React To Student Murder

IRVING(CBSDFW.COM) - Unable to get away from an obsessive boyfriend. That's what those who knew Irving teenager, Racheal Wiest are saying after her classmate is charged with murder.
Wiest's family is asking for privacy but they released a statement Tuesday night:
"The events in the last 24 hours have been shocking and devastating for both families involved. We ask at this time that you please allow all parties involved the time they need to grieve this enormous loss."
What happened inside an Irving garage between Jacob Boyd and Racheal Wiest was what students like Michelle Alvarado witnessed in the hallways of Nimitz High School.
"She tried breaking up with him before multiple times but her boyfriend kept on blowing up her phone saying we're not gonna break up and like this is not done and you don't know what I'll do it like threatening her and stuff." says Alvarado.
Police say the couple met at the home of a mutual friend "...to discuss their relationship."
The police report also says Boyd became angry when Wiest refused to have sex with him.
Police say he put her in a choke hold for "...5 to 10 minutes until, her face turned blue and her body stopped twitching."
"When situations like these occur people always ask me how could this happen here? I cannot answer that but I can't say that unfortunately situations like this occur everywhere," says Irving Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jose Parra.
The shocking nature of the crime created a somber atmosphere on a school campus which should be carefree with only a few days of classes remaining.
Jacob Boyd is in the Irving Jail with bond set at $1,000,000.
