NORTH TEXAS – A beautiful night is expected after a high in the low 70s today. Just after our 6:52 p.m. sunset, a full moon will rise in the east at 7:01 p.m. (slightly after sundown, indicating that the moon is waning [it was 100% full late morning]).

It'll be a supermoon, closer to the Earth and appearing about 30% brighter and 14% bigger than normal.

Another cold night is in store for us. You might need that car heater on in the morning again. This morning started in the upper 40s. Tomorrow morning we'll start in the low 50s.

Kids should wear a couple of layers at the bus stop tomorrow morning. They might forget to bring them home from school as we get into the upper 70s by afternoon.

Fantastic weather is expected for the last weekend of the State Fair. Get out and enjoy the Midway; it hardly gets better than this.

We are in the second half of October now. The first half had a theme: hot and dry. At the halfway mark, it is the third hottest and, tied with six other years, the driest start to October in the 125-year record.

The November outlook came out today and doesn't offer much of a difference. It is forecasting a good chance of above-normal temperatures and, as you can see below, below-normal precipitation.

We continue to monitor small rain chances showing up next week. High pressure might just move far enough to our west to open the door for some weather to come in from the north. Right now, we are keeping chances very small.
