NHL Labor Talks Resume With Deadline Looming
TORONTO (AP) - NHL Players' Association executive director Don Fehr and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman are set to return to the negotiating table on Wednesday in a bid to start bridging what is described as a "wide gap'' in labor talks.
The negotiations are to be held at the union's headquarters in Toronto, and mark the first time in a week that the respective leaders meet face to face after discussions hit a snag.
Last week, Bettman essentially rejected the union's counterproposal by calling it incomplete and suggesting the sides aren't on the same page.
Fehr took time off from talks to update players in Chicago and British Columbia.
Only 25 days remain before the current deal expires on Sept. 15, when the NHL has warned it will lock out its players.
