Next Cowboys Decisions: Injuries And Depth Charts

FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - The 24-Hour Rule is about to take hold. Sunday's thrilling 35-30 comeback victory against the Steelers at Heinz Field is about behind the Cowboys.

And issues regarding injuries and the depth chart are the next order of business.

Second-year tight end Geoff Swaim sustained an injury to his pectoral muscle during the Cowboys win. Depending on the seriousness of that injury, we'll need to ask questions about James Hanna (out all season with a knee injury), about Gavin Escobar (not yet highly productive in his career) and maybe about sixth-round rookie Rico Gathers, the Baylor basketball player who has spent the year on the Dallas practice squad.

Meanwhile, Dallas' depleted secondary is hoping to not lose Orlando Scandrick for Sunday against the visiting Ravens. Scandrick sustained a concussion in Pittsburgh when colliding with teammate Sean Lee.

But, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones tells 105.3 The Fan, "We feel good about Scandrick being able to play this week.''

And then there is the depth-chart issue at QB, where Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told me after Sunday's win that his team will stick with the "hot hand'' of rookie Dak Prescott while at the same time moving Tony Romo up to the No. 2 spot for the first time all season.

Coach Jason Garrett was typically non-committal on the news during his 105.3 The Fan appearance on Tuesday, but Stephen Jones confirmed the news with us, adding, "Those things take care of themselves.''
