NewsRadio 1080 KRLD Honored With Journalism Awards

NewsRadio 1080 KRLD has been honored with a number of awards recognizing excellence in journalism.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the 2015 winners of Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and KRLD won for best breaking news coverage and best continuing coverage and the KRLD Afternoon News won, "Best Newscast" for the broadcast the Monday after the devastating December 26th tornado outbreak.

On April 9th the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters awards banquet was held at the Headliner's Club in Austin. For decades, the Texas AP Broadcasters organization has been honoring Radio and TV journalists for their hard work and dedication to the profession.

KRLD won first place for both continuing and spot news coverage. Our continuing coverage was of the deadly December tornado outbreak and our breaking news coverage was of the devastating flooding in May.

Reporter Emily Trube won a first place plaque for her coverage of a tornado that hit the town of Van.

On top of all that, the KRLD Morning News was named, "Best Newscast" in Texas.
