New Unity Movement Born In Dallas

DALLAS (CBS11) - Two groups on opposite sides came together on Wednesday night to unite for peace in the wake of the Dallas Police ambush.
Black Lives Matter supporter and their counter-protesters joined in prayer and spent more than an hour finding common ground amongst themselves.
"We all go through the same things. There's no reason to hate each other when we can all uplift each other," said Britny Morrison, a Black Lives Matter supporter.
The two sides first met a few days ago during a protest near Northpark Center. A BLM protester decided to cross the street and open his arms to embrace the Back The Blue counter-protesters.
They joined in prayer on Sunday and now they want to take their showing of unity a step further.
"There's no black, there's no white. There's no brown, there's no yellow. We're Dallasites. We're Texans," said T.J. Duncan, a Back The Blue protester.
The two groups are calling it the "Lives Matter Movement." They have plans to take their message across the country to cities like Baton Rouge and Minneapolis. They are the cities with the two most recent, controversial police-involved shootings. They have created a GoFundMe page to raise money for the travel.
"I think it's a great start. Something has to happen to fix our country," said Det. Allen Webb of the Dallas Police Department.
Webb said the movement gives him hope.
"I think it's an incredible thing to do. I don't know how y'all did it? I have no idea," said Webb.
The group said they did it by erasing lines.
"We don't care what organization you're with. Black Lives Matter or Back the Blue, we need to come together and work on our issues," said Joseph Offutt, a Back The Blue protester.
Both sides are working to find common ground and focus on life, love and change.
"We have to kill that fear and tear down those walls," said Morrison.
