New Supercenter Breaks Ground
Ground has broken on construction of a 24-hour Walmart Center more than two months after neighborhood members spoke out against the retail center moving in. While outspoken citizens fear that the Walmart could bring more traffic and crime, as well as decreased property values, the Frisco City Council voted in July to allow the construction of the large retail center. The constuction plans include a pocket park to the north, an agreement to improve Gary Burns Drive and to install a traffic light at Hickory and Preston. And Walmart also plans to donate one acre to wildlife conservation for every acre of land it develops, according to project representatives.
