DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The State Fair of Texas doesn't open until later this month, but you can start experiencing fair food right now. There is a new fair-themed restaurant opened inside of the Walmart store in Plano, and it will let you sample a piece of the fair all year long.

State Fair Treats features a menu of 45 unique items served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Visitors can order up smokehouse sliders, corn dogs and cannolis, among many other State Fair favorites. "When I drove up today, I remembered it was opening day and I got really excited," said customer Pam Sheridan. "Decided to get a corn dog before we shopped."

"It's convenient," added Walmart shopper Judith Rhodes. "I've already given into a craving!"

There is no alcohol served at the restaurant, however, so those looking for the famous Smoky Bacon Margarita will have to get one at the actual State Fair of Texas.

Walmart approached award-winning concessionaire Isaac Rousso with this restaurant idea during last year's fair. He has been a regular finalist and winner of the Big Tex Choice Awards, which honors the best-tasting and most creative dishes at the State Fair of Texas each year.

Rousso is the creator of the cookie fries which took home a Big Tex Choice Award this year.

"On September 30, we'll introduce the cookie fries at our location at the State Fair of Texas, and then you'll be able to get them here at the restaurant," said Rousso.

Right now, State Fair Treats can only be found at the Walmart in Plano, located near the intersection of Highway 190 and Coit Road. There are plans to expand the new restaurant to other North Texas locations and even, perhaps, Walmart stores across the nation.
