New NHL Schedule Depends On New Labor Deal

DALLAS (AP) - The NHL has released its schedule for the upcoming season - if there's no work stoppage.

The league's collective bargaining agreement expires Sept. 15.

The NHL announced Thursday that Los Angeles will raise its Stanley Cup championship banner Oct. 12 when it hosts the New York Rangers. The Kings will travel to play New Jersey on Feb. 9 in a Stanley Cup rematch in their only scheduled matchup.

Opening night matchups on Oct. 11 include Boston playing at Philadelphia and Colorado hosting St. Louis. Detroit will face Toronto in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at Michigan Stadium. The All-Star game is Jan. 27 in Columbus, Ohio.

The season is scheduled to end with 28 of 30 teams playing on April 13.
