New Information On Rapist Targeting Sorority Members
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - There is new information in the search for a rapist targeting sorority alumnae in several North Texas cities.
Plano police now have a DNA profile of the man they believe is responsible for four sexual assaults – they just don't know who it belongs to. All of the assault victims were women in their 50's and 60's and all members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
On Monday, police revealed that the man seen in a surveillance video is the person who called one of the sexual assault victims to ask if she was okay. The phone call, placed with six days of the attack, was traced to a Mesquite convenience store.
Police don't know if the man seen in the convenience store video was the attacker, but they want to question him.
A current Delta member, who doesn't want her identity released, told KRLD NewsRadio 1080, "You don't know who to talk to. You don't know what to expose about yourself. You could be in a grocery store and somehow strike up a conversation with someone and who knows that could be that person."
While police haven't been in contact with the woman she said members of her sorority had. "Plenty of other women in my sorority have called me or emailed me to just alert me and make sure that I was not wearing any letters or showing an paraphernalia."
Investigators are asking every North Texan to take another look at the video and watch it with an open mind.
Police call the man who committed the crimes a "monster", but warm that he may be soft spoken and appear gentle in person.
The North Texas Crime Commission's Crime Stoppers program is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the case.
