New Fire Chief In Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - The City of Grand Prairie has a new Fire Chief.  Robert Fite will replace retiring Fire Chief Clif Nelson.  Nelson has served as Grand Prairie's head firefighter for the last 17 years.

Fite is currently the Fire Chief in Georgetown, Texas.

"We were so fortunate to find such a great fit for our organization from among many extremely qualified applicants," said City Manager Tom Hart in a press release, "Chief Fite will have the benefit of bringing his high energy, commitment to the profession and excitement about the job on the heels of a long-tenured, home-grown, very successful Chief when Chief Clif Nelson retires."

"Through all my visits and interviews, I've been so impressed with the family atmosphere at the city of Grand Prairie, as well as the utmost professionalism of everyone," said Fite.

Official confirmation to the post by the Grand Prairie City Council is expected August 7.
