PLANO (CBSDFW.COM ) - It's that dreaded double chin, the fat under the chin that just won't go away.

And, Donnavick Staudinger of Plano wants it gone.

"I'm sure all the women would like to see the bulge gone," she told CBS 11 News.

So when diet and exercise didn't work, she decided to get Kybella injections.

It is the FDA approved drug that claims to destroy chin fat forever.

"These fat cells die," Dr. Jeffrey Adelglass a board-certified cosmetic surgeon who is trained in the procedure told us. He says the non-surgical procedure takes just minutes.

The procedure starts with marking the chin with a temporary grid-like tattoo. The syringe has a synthetic form of a naturally occurring substance in the body. The Food and Drug Administration approved Kybella in April. But it's only recently that cosmetic surgeons across North Texas are offering this procedure.

Dr. Adelglass says most patients need about 3 to 4 sessions with each session costing around $1,200 to $1,500

Staudinger says the discomfort was minor. But, the end result is worth the pain. Side effects of this procedure include nerve injury and trouble swallowing along with bruising in the area.

Also doctors warn if injected incorrectly it could destroy the wrong kinds of cells. Right now the FDA has approved this drug only for chin fat.
