Murdered Jogger Identified; New Details On Suspect

DALLAS (CBS11) - A newly released police affidavit claims an former Aggie football star accused of murder waited patiently at the crime scene to make his confession.
Thomas Johnson allegedly murdered a jogger on the White Rock Creek Trail Monday morning in a random act of violence.
Police say he stabbed the man multiple times in the head.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 53-year-old David Stevens Tuesday evening.
Johnson's arrest affidavit shows he then approached another man, borrowed his cell phone and called 911.
Johnson told the operator there was a jogger on the trail lying "with a sword in his head and not moving."
Dallas Fire Rescue found the victim with a large knife in his head.
A Dallas police officer wrote that as he approached the scene, Johnson told him, "I need to talk to you."
The officer told him to hold on.
He later returned and asked Johnson what he could do for him.
Johnson said, "I just committed capital murder. I just committed capital murder."
The officer asked him what he meant.
Johnson reportedly replied, "It's like when you don't wake up."
The suspect was once a football star at Skyline High School in Dallas as later at Texas A&M.
After walking away from school, his life appeared to unwind.
In January, he was convicted of breaking into his aunt's home in Duncanville.
According to a police report, the aunt told police there that her nephew had "mental issues."
Dallas police say Johnson had recently lost his home and was angry.
