New CareFlite Hangar Being Built In Denton
DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - CareFlite response times in Denton County are about to get much faster, thanks to a new facility that is now under construction.
The 4,000 square foot hangar at Denton Enterprise Airport in Denton will have enough room for one CareFlite helicopter, a new ground ambulance and more than a dozen employees.
CareFlite President and CEO Jim Swartz said that it is crucial to have his crew members close to the helicopter at all times. "Having a hangar facility makes our ability to get to scenes faster," Swartz explained, "because when their quarters are immediately adjacent to the helicopter, we can get out really quickly."
Swartz added that, when dealing with the life or death situations that CareFlite faces each day, response time is of the utmost importance. "We're in a situation where every minute is precious, every minute counts," Swartz said. "We think we can cut some number of minutes off our response times in Denton County."
The new CareFlite facility is set to open this August. The Denton Enterprise Airport is located about 15 minutes north of the Texas Motor Speedway, close to the Interstate-35 split.
