Neighbors Warned Police About "Known Drug House" Before Murder
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Frustrated neighbors in a new south Dallas subdivision say the Dallas Police Department didn't do enough when they called to report a drug house.
"I called them personally every bit of 50 times," resident Christian Fuery said about a house on Cool Morn Drive.
Other neighbors told the CBS 11 I-Team they too called police, multiple times, to report drug and prostitution activity at the house.
The Dallas Police Department told the I-Team its investigation could not "substantiate the allegation" of it being a drug house.
Only after the murder earlier this month of 28-year-old Stephanie Terlisner and her unborn baby at the residence did Dallas police acknowledge the house on Cool Morn Drive as a drug house.
Investigators said Terslisner was shot inside the house in an apparent drug-related robbery.
Fuery said she had been warning police this could happen for months. "If you drive down the street I think it's obvious. Every day there's 20-30 cars parking out," she said "There are women walking all day long."
In the past year the police department told the I-Team seven 911 calls were made about the house and officers issued three citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.
The I-Team found additional police reports where neighbors informed officers it was a "known drug house".
However, the police told the I-Team there wasn't enough evidence to deem the property as a "drug house".
A week after the murder of Terlisner, neighbors said the drug activity resumed at the house.
"They are still in that house," said Fuery. "It's still open for drugs, prostitution, and there is nothing being done."
In an email, the Dallas Police Department told the I-Team, "Neighbors need to continue to call 911 to report ALL suspicious activities to include drug related offenses and prostitution."
Neighbors said they did in the past and it didn't work.
