Neighbor Finds Tornado Victims In Backyard
GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) - The EF-4 tornado that hit Granbury dropped a house into Howard Smith's backyard.
"I saw that and thought well... that was somebody's house," said Smith.
When he checked out the rubble, he found three people -- two of whom are now listed among the dead.
The first person he found was a neighbor he had never met named Tommy Martin. He was covered with debris and were it not for a feeble call for help and raise of his hand, Smith may not have seen him. Nearby lay Martin's wife face down next to a mattress. She could speak but had difficulty moving. And not far from Martin's wife, Smith found the body of her mother -- Marjorie Davis.
"Her mother was right under this piece of wood and I could tell she was dead right when I found her," said Smith.

Martin and his wife, both seriously injured, waited for an hour as ambulances made their way through roads blocked by debris.
Smith said he used towels to cushion Martin's head and keep him warm as they waited for help.
"Made 'em as comfortable as possible, because they had to wait a long time."
Sadly Martin passed away on his way to the hospital.
"I feel bad for those people. It's a hard way to go."
There's still no word on the condition of Martin's wife.
