Nearly 3,000 AA Layoffs Coming
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - American Airlines has told the state it could be cutting nearly three thousand jobs here in North Texas by November. The Fort Worth carrier sent a notice to the state today that it plans to eliminate more than three thousand jobs, affecting people in Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Travis and Harris counties.
Both the union and airline representatives say the actual number of layoffs could be less. That's because they say employees are still taking buyouts, and the airline is in negotiations with unions.
DFW Airport topped the list as the worst airport for cancellations on September 24, most of them American and American Eagle flights. Last week, more than 300 American flights were cancelled.
