NCIS Star Attacked Near Her Home In LA, Tweets About Assault

LOS ANGELES (CBSDFW.COM) - An actress on one of the most watched shows in North Texas was attacked near her home Thursday night. Pauley Perrette, a star on the CBS television series NCIS, was assaulted on a street in Los Angeles.
On Twitter Perrette revealed she was attacked Thursday night and said she is "thankful to be alive."
The 46-year-old actress tweeted, "Tonight was an awful night," and then detailed how she was walking across the street to a guesthouse she had recently purchased when "a very psychotic homeless man" jumped her.
Perrette said the man, later identified as David Merck, pinned her arm, punched her in the nose and forehead and said he was going to kill her. The actress said she was "alone, terrified and trapped," but prayed her "heart out."
According to Perrette, who plays forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on NCIS, the man leveled another round of punches before letting her go. After collapsing on the sidewalk Perrettes aid she sent a text to a friend next door and another friend who is a police officer.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the attack and arrest of Merck. The suspect was reportedly tracked down at a 7-Eleven and taken into custody.
Perrette was able to positively identify Merck who now faces charges for Criminal Threat and Felony Assault.
Perrette's injuries were not life-threatening, but she ended her tweet saying, "I need to heal. I almost died tonight."
In September, a women was found after a reported home invasion and kidnapping in Oak Cliff, TX.
