Navy Has To Beat SMU, 2 Other Teams For Bowl Spot

DALLAS (AP)  Navy plays at SMU on Saturday after finally ending its six-game losing streak.

In a preview of a potential Big East Conference game of the future, Navy (3-6) is in survival mode for the rest of this season. The Midshipmen are guaranteed a spot in the Military Bowl if they can get to the six wins for bowl eligibility. That means they have to win the rest of their games, starting Saturday at SMU (6-3).

Navy has won four straight games in the series.

SMU is already eligible for its third consecutive bowl under coach June Jones. The Mustangs got their sixth victory last week with a 45-24 win against Tulane which came after a two-game losing streak when they managed only 10 points.
