MVP Josh Hamilton Expected To Play Multiple RoughRiders Games

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Rangers star Josh Hamilton has joined Double-A Frisco on the next step in his path back to the major leagues. Hamilton was set to bat third and play center field on Saturday; he is expected to play at least four RoughRider games.
The 33-year-old is a five-time All Star, as well as the 2010 American League MVP with the Rangers from 2008 through 2012.
Hamilton hasn't played in the majors this season. The former AL MVP had shoulder surgery in February and was traded by the Los Angeles Angels back to Texas in late April. After starting out in extended spring training with the Rangers, he played for Triple-A Round Rock as part of his rehabilitation assignment.
The Frisco ballpark is 35 miles from the Rangers' stadium. In Round Rock, he was 180 miles away. "I haven't even thought about Arlington," he said.
