Muslim Employee: Disney Banned Her Head Scarf
A Muslim woman who works as a hostess at a Disneyland restaurant claims her employer sent her home without pay after she refused to remove her head scarf in front of customers.
Imane Boudlal filed a complaint Wednesday with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Boudlal has worked at the Storyteller restaurant at the hotel for 2 years but didn't try to wear her hijab to work until Sunday, in observation of Ramadan.
Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the 26-year-old hostess has refused offers to wear the head covering while working away from customers.
