Multiple Lane Closures On Hwy 75 Will Slow Drivers In Allen & Fairview
ALLEN (CBS 11 NEWS) - Drivers in Collin County can expect delays over the next couple of nights along Highway 75.
Multiple lane closures in both directions from Allen to Fairview start at 7pm.
Workers will be installing pavement markings Thursday and Friday nights between Bethany Drive in Allen and Ridgeview Drive in Fairview until 6am the following mornings. TXDOT is warning drivers to expect backups. At least one lane in each direction will stay open, but drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
The project falls just south of several bigger construction projects along 75 that many drivers have found challenging.
"75's already difficult enough, and making the construction makes it even worse. 12 Takes us twice as long to get somewhere," Carl Shurson said, who drives the route each day.
"It's a hassle, but I guess it's pain for the progress we're going to get with eventually with the new lanes, but it's like anything else, it's just a painful process," Allen driver Stan Starks added.
There is some relief in store. A TXDOT spokesperson says the two big McKinney projects immediately north of the lane closures in Allen and Fairview are expected to be completed later this summer.
