Multiple Felon Arrested In Fort Worth Following Tip
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Police credit a "grateful tip" for information that led to the before-dawn arrest of a multiple felon Saturday.
Patrick Leon Collins Jr., 20, was taken into custody by the Fort Worth Police Department's fugitive unit "in the early morning hours" Saturday at a residence in the 4000 block of Burton in east Fort Worth, said department spokesman Clifton Miller.
At the time of his arrest, Collins Jr. had two felony warrants. In Fort Worth, the fugitive was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, linked to a September shooting.
He also had a warrant in Houston for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. In addition to these, Miller said Collins Jr. is the only suspect in a Dec. 14 robbery of an east Fort Worth Family Dollar that ended with officers having to shoot the suspect.
A police spokesman at the time said the man pointed a gun at the officers and was wounded by police, but managed to escape in a black compact car.
In a release, Miller said Collins Jr. is being treated for gunshot wounds to his abdomen and hand, sustained during the Family Dollar robbery.
He's in good condition and will be taken to the Fort Worth Jail once he's fully recovered.
Police issued another three aggravated robbery warrants for Collins Jr. after Wednesday's robbery.
"There is a possibility that more will follow for his alleged actions of placing Fort Worth officers in fear of their lives," Miller wrote.
