Motorcyclist Killed By Disabled Car Left In Traffic
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth woman is in custody after police say she caused a motorcyclist to fatally crash around 2 a.m. Saturday in Grand Prairie.
Police say Amber Searcy, 26, was drunkenly driving a 2004 Ford Taurus on westbound I-30 when she lost control of the car near Belt Line Road.
The Taurus then crashed into the "center jersey barrier," according to Sgt. Eric Hansen of GPPD.
Searcy was accompanied by two passengers at the time of the wreck. All three exited the vehicle, leaving it in the left lane of traffic without any lights on.
It was then that Jakori Perry, 35, of Arlington, slammed into the Taurus and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Perry was killed at the scene.
One of the Taurus passengers was injured in the initial crash, and was taken to a local hospital. That person's condition is currently unknown.
Police say Searcy was intoxicated at the time of the wreck, and has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Hansen numbered this as the fourth traffic fatality in Grand Prairie for 2014.
The crash remains under investigation.
