FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth Police arrested the mother of a child who died shortly after being born in April 2013.
The Fort Worth Police fugitive unit arrested Shaquita Galloway, 26, on Tuesday for injury to a child.
Police said Galloway gave birth on April 16, 2013 in the bathroom of her home at 350 W. Belknap. Police said the child died due to what is believed to be a lack of necessary medical care. Police said they determined this after Galloway was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her own medical issues following the birth.
Fort Worth Police confirm that this death of a child case was one of those investigated by Detective Dennis Hutchins who was fired in July 2016.
Hutchins, a former crimes against children detective, was fired over allegations he bungled multiple investigations and failed to file cases for prosecution and interview witness, according to a Fort Worth Police news release.
Three years later, another detective brought the case to the DA and made an arrest of the mother.
