More North Texas Storms Before Mild Weekend

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - After four confirmed tornadoes and straight-line winds caused damage across North Texas early Monday morning, the calm winds and cool temperatures of Tuesday morning felt like a blessing. The temperatures dipped down to the 40s for many rural areas and suburbs, but we are on the way to 79 degrees and sunny skies for Tuesday afternoon.

Cleanup efforts have been underway in those areas hit hardest by Monday morning's storms. The pleasant conditions on Tuesday should assist those efforts nicely.

North Texas will stay sunny and warm through Wednesday, with temperatures down in the low 50s during Wednesday morning and then rebounding to 82 degrees under sunny afternoon skies. Winds will pick up out of the south to bring increasing humidity.

But another round of storms will be heading our way.

Cloud cover develops during the Wednesday overnight hours into Thursday morning. A very strong upper level system will initiate severe storms in eastern Oklahoma and Kansas on Thursday. North Texas should be on the southern tip of this energy, and under a slight risk for severe weather late Thursday morning and into the afternoon. Most of the rain chances are in the northeastern parts of North Texas. Damaging winds and hail – as well as the threat of a tornado – are expected.

This system will usher in cooler, drier air by Friday, and that will hold tight throughout most of the weekend. High temperatures are expected to hold in the 70s through the beginning of next week. Low temperatures over the weekend will dip down into the 40s.

So, pleasantly cool mornings and mild afternoons for the weekend.
