"Mama Bear" Reacts To Suspect Not Taking Blame

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Jessica Liesmann's life has taken a turn for the better.
"Today has just been outrageously great," she says. "The happiness overwhelmed me. I haven't been this happy since I gave birth to my kids."
Just one day after a police chase ended with a suspect violently rear-ending her minivan, she has a brand new one. Her first new vehicle. She found out she was getting it for free from Bill Dickenson of Southwest Kia on live television.
Across town, the man who crashed into her, Atrai Alexander says he's sorry.
"I apologize to them, JT, the little guy that was in the van," says Alexander from behind glass at the jail.
Alexander says he remembers Liesmann grabbing and hitting him and her boyfriend holding him until police got there. He says Liesmann should be mad at the police for chasing him. He says the reason he didn't stop is because he was afraid police would shoot him and says Leismann and her family should be glad he didn't grab his gun.
"I could have pulled the gun on them," says Alexander. "But I didn't."
Liesmann says she is grateful and says Alexander should be, too.
"He can have some kind of peace that some good came out of this and not some terrible tragedy and that he's not in jail because of people that are dead," says Liesmann.
