DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - In 1959, Washington Redskins owner George Preston Marshall stood in the way of Clint Murchison's efforts to expand the NFL to Dallas. So, Murchison fought back using the Redskins beloved fight song.
Murchison secretly obtained the the rights to "Hail to the Redskins" for $2,500, and that's when the rivalry between the Cowboys and Redskins began.

Murchison informed Marshall: vote to expand the NFL to Dallas, or never play "Hail to the Redskins" at your stadium ever again. Marshall caved, the Cowboys were created, and a rivalry was born.
That stands at the 41st greatest moment in Cowboys history.
