DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The third time proved to be the charm for the Dallas Cowboys in January 1996. After losing the first two NFL championship matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s, the Cowboys got their revenge in the 1990s.
The Cowboys looked right at home at Sun Devil Stadium in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 28, 1996. Dallas jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead against the Steelers with the help of a Troy Aikman touchdown pass to Jay Novacek.
"The game was really a lot of fun," Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman recalled in an interview with CBS 11 Sports. "The way we jumped out on tape and the way they mounted a comeback."

The Dallas defense made the lead stand. Cornerback Larry Brown picked off a pair of passes from Steelers quarterback Neil O'Donnell in the second half. That led to 14 points. Brown was named the game's Most Valuable Player, as the Cowboys beat the Steelers 27-17.
