DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police chased a carjacking suspect through the streets of Dallas, but it was an angry mom who brought him down.
Jessica Liesmann said, "I didn't even think. I just jumped out."
Liesmann was stopped at a red light, with her boyfriend and 13-year-old son in the vehicle, when that suspect slammed into them.
The North Texas mother got out of the car, grabbed suspect Artrai Alexander, and started swinging. Her boyfriend separated the two and held the man until officers arrived.
Liesmann said she had one thing on her mind "My kid. My kid. All I could think about is my kid is in here."
The confrontation happened in a school zone, where the couple was picking up their young daughter. "This is a place where you're supposed to go a certain speed limit because of kids," Liesmann said.
The couple lost their 4-year-old son to epilepsy last year. Liesmann said the threat to her teenage son triggered her strong reaction Wednesday afternoon.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to raise money for Liesmann to purchase a new vehicle.
