Modano, Wife To Split After 5 Years Of Marriage

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - They say all good things must come to an end, and for former Dallas Stars icon Mike Mondano, that means his marriage of 5 years to singer Willa Ford.

Mondano, who for 20 seasons was the face of the Dallas Stars, retired from professional hockey at the beginning of last season after spending one season with the Stars' rival Detroit Red Wings.

Ford, who is best known for being a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and for the 2001 nominal pop hit 'I Wanna Be Bad' told People Magazine on Tuesday through her 'rep.' that she and the hockey star decided to end their 5-year marriage.

"It is with great sadness that after five years of marriage, Willa and Mike have decided to divorce," they told the magazine's website. "They remain friends and wish each other success and happiness."

The couple had been married in a private ceremony in Athens in 2007. They became engaged in 2006.

Modano led the Stars to the Stanley Cup in 1999, as well as playing with the team in the 1991 and 2000 Stanley Cup Finals. He is now part of the ownership group of the Central Hockey League's Allen Americans.
