Missing Laredo Teen Found Safe In Irving
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A 14-year-old Laredo girl vacationing in North Texas was found safe late Sunday in Irving, police said.
The girl disappeared Friday night outside of a family friend's house in Grand Prairie where they were staying.
Family members said Sunday that the teen had befriended a Honduran man living in Irving earlier in the week. The missing girl's sister said at one point, the man said he wanted to marry the 14-year old. They did not know how old the man is.
The missing teenager was found in Irving, but police did not say on Sunday if she was found with the Honduran man.
"This is an on-going investigation, so I am limited on what I can disseminate," Grand Prairie Police Det. Lyle Gensler said Sunday night. "The good news is she was located and appears to be in good health."
The located teen was carrying her mother's cell phone when she disappeared.
Her mother said detectives told her the phone was detected in The Valley on the border with Mexico but had not been used to transmit text messages or phone calls.
