Military Son Brings Mother To Tears At Officer's Emotional Swearing In Ceremony

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - An Irving police officer was brought to happy tears when her military son showed up at her swearing-in ceremony.

Officer Erika Benning, who just finished six month basic police officer training, hasn't seen her son in more than two years since he was stationed overseas in Germany.

After an emotional embrace, the mother stood proudly as he pinned on her new badge.

All swearing-in ceremonies are special but every once in a while one tugs at your heart strings a little more than others. Yesterday, at Officer Benning's swearing-in she was surprised to find out that her son, who has been stationed over seas and has not seen in over 2 years, would be the one pinning her badge. #ComingHome #MotherSon #Military #SwearingIn #IPDCares #Family #VolumeUp #JoinIPD
