Michigan Left Turn In Plano
There may be a lot of honking in a major intersection in Plano today as it is converted to a "Michigan left turn."
Plano has spent 2 and a half million dollars converting the intersection of Preston and Legacy in the hope that in the long run it will save drivers money, time and frustration. With fewer of the around 80 thousand vehicles that go through the intersection crossing traffic, the city expects fewer accidents, less congestion and not as much pollution. Drivers who want to turn left now need to be in the right lane, they then turn and go down to a U-Turn area and then head they originally wanted to go. There will be confusion for a while in spite of the city's effort to get drivers on board via signs and even flyers that have been mailed out.
