Michael Young: 'Definitely, I Think We'll Be Better'
SURPRISE, Ariz. (CBSDFW.COM) – They're here, warts and all, and ready to go. Or at least work out.
Michael Young and Elvis Andrus arrived in the Rangers clubhouse Saturday morning. Young came in and gave teammates David Murphy and Derek Holland big hugs at their lockers.
When Andrus walked in with his bag, Young playfully asked him "What's up with your foot?" referring to the plantar's wart Andrus had removed earlier this week, which will cause him to miss a few days of workouts.
Young was asked about Nolan Ryan's assertion that the 2012 Rangers are better than the 2011 version that went to the World Series. The All-Star didn't mix words.
"One thing about this group is that it's got a really competitive makeup," Young said. "We're ready to go out and try and beat people. Definitely, I think we'll be better."
"I've heard the term World Series hangover," he added. "I'm not concerned about that at all. Only thing I'm thinking about the last couple months is putting our uniforms on and beating people."
As for the cause of Andrus's plantar's wart? He assured us he hadn't been kissing any frogs.
"No," he smiled. "I've been hearing that a lot."
