Mesquite Police Seek Suspect In Two Shootings

MESQUITE (KRLD) - The Mesquite Police Department is looking for the person responsible for two separate shootings Monday.

The first shooting occurred in the 3600 block of Byrd Drive at about 7:40 a.m., while the second incident took place in the 4300 block of Gus Thomasson Road at about 8:45 a.m.

Authorities say that in both cases an armed black male in his late teens to early 20's approached the victim in front of their residence as they were exciting their vehicle. The suspect produced a handgun and shot the victims and ran from the scene.

Police say they believe the individuals were targeted as they were both Hispanic males and had recently left PLS Check Cashing in the 2100 block of N. Town East Blvd.

Both victims are hospitalized in serious condition.

The suspect is around 5'10" to 6'0" tall and was wearing a dark colored t-shirt and shorts. He was seen entering a dark colored sedan which is believed to be a late model Audi with damage to the right front headlight area.
