Mesquite PD Searching For Two Men After Early Morning Robbery

MESQUITE (CBSDFW) - A convenience store clerk was shot during a robbery in Mesquite early Friday morning.
Police say two men robbed the Chevron station on Highway 80 a little after midnight.
Surveillance video shows the suspects pointing a gun at the clerk while demanding money and cigarettes. Fearing for his life the clerk grabbed the gun at which time a struggle ensued. Both men began punching the clerk when the gun discharged, striking the clerk in the leg.
Investigators say the robbers split up after grabbing cash from the register.
Police found a pistol left in the store, and a shoe found outside, which they believe belongs to one of the suspects.
The first suspect is described as a light-skinned black or Latin male, late teens or early 20's, 5'08"-5'10" tall, weighing between 150 and 160 lbs. He was wearing a gray hooded jacket and baggy blue jeans. He was also wearing black and white basketball shoes with red shoe laces.
The second is a black male, late teens or early 20's, between 5'09" and 6'00" tall, weighing 160 to 175 lbs. This suspect was wearing a black hoodie and black t-shirt. He was wearing baggy blue jeans.
The clerk was transported to Baylor hospital where he was treated and released.
Crime stoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense.
