Mesh Mask Bandit Robs 14th North Texas Bank
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - FBI officials say the armed criminal dubbed the "mesh mask bandit" has robbed another North Texas bank. Including the recent stickup of the Citibank location in Arlington, the man is suspected of robbing 14 area banks since December of last year.
The latest robbery happened April 2 in the 1400 block of North Collins. "He just enters the bank with the weapon drawn, and he verbally demands cash, and after receiving cash he runs away." FBI Agent Lydia Maese said of the suspect.
Before one robbery a witness was able to see the suspect's face before he pulled on his now telltale full coverage mask. Today the FBI released a composite drawing based on that description.
Of the 14 robberies the suspect is believed to have committed nearly half of them have occurred in Dallas. During on stretch in February the bandit robbed three banks in two days.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a dark complexion. He is believed to be between 37 and 43 years old, standing between 5'7" and 6'2". The man has a medium to large build, dark hair, dark eyes, and may have a mustache and goatee.
After the robbery of a Dallas Capital One Bank, investigators believed the mesh mask bandit may now have some distinguishing characteristics. "His clothing or skin may have been temporarily dyed red during a robbery in January of this year," Maese explained. "So if anyone knows or has seen an individual who has his skin died and who meets the description..."
The bandit always uses a weapon during the robberies and is considered armed and dangerous.
