DALLAS (CBS11) - The family of an 18-year-old homicide victim is expected to release a statement on Tuesday afternoon surrounding the death.

Dallas police said Zoe Hastings of East Dallas was reported missing Sunday after failing to show up for a 5:00 p.m. church service at a nearby Mormon temple. The van she was driving, her family's Honda Odyssey, was later found Monday morning in a nearby creek.

"We come here every day. So it's very disturbing and darkens the place," said Pascale Evans, a neighbor who lives near the crime scene.

Investigators have not made any arrests and would not elaborate on many details surrounding the homicide.

"Where Ms. Hastings was found and the injuries consistent with her death would probably be known to people who may have caused that death, so I'm not going to release it at this time," said Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin of the Dallas Police Department.

A memorial page was created by the victim's friends.

"Zoe was vivacious, beautiful, always willing to help, and a ball of energy that was always ready to make you smile," wrote one friend.

Booker T. Washington High School also sent home a letter to parents and offered counseling. Hastings was a recent graduate.

Hastings worked at the nearby White Rock YMCA. Staff did not want to comment Monday night.
