AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — The South by Southwest Music Festival has added pop singer Melissa Etheridge, rapper Action Bronson and hundreds more acts to its March lineup.
Organizers released the latest list of acts on Tuesday for the six-day music festival that takes over downtown Austin every year. More than 1,200 acts have been confirmed.
The other big names announced for the industry-insider festival also include HyunA, Dum Dum Girls, Martin Garrix, Band of Skulls, Charlie XCX and Russian Red.
Performers heading south from Dallas include Dustin Cavazos, Conner Youngblood, and the group Yung Nation. Bands attending the festival from Fort Worth include Complete and The Unlikely Candidates.
The conference specializes in showcasing up-and-coming acts and a handful of established talent for thousands of performances. In 2013, more than 25,000 people saw 2,278 acts during the festival.
The festival releases the names of invited bands throughout the year, but the biggest names are announced closer to opening night.
